Groomer’s Tool - Creator Collaboration Event
Hi, I’m the developer of Groomer’s Tool.
I built this tool to help artists speed up complex hair workflows in Maya. Over time I’ve seen artists use the tool in many interesting ways, and I’d love to collaborate with a few creators who enjoy sharing their workflows with others.
The goal of this collaboration is simple:
To show how "Groomer’s Tool" can be used in real grooming workflows and projects, in forms of:
videos (with explainations, or timelapse videos), or
written articles
Please note: all of these can be made from an existing hair style that you have already completed before. It does not have to be a brand new asset!
It’s a small collaboration for artists who enjoy exploring tools and sharing their process.
Qualifications
An existing Groomer's Tool membership, or
You have used Groomer's Tool before (version does not matter)
What you’ll receive
Selected Creators will receive:
Groomer’s Tool "Creator License", it's a special license provided to artists who love to share to the public.
It will be a 3-Months to start (or extension if you currently have a membership), we will be catching up with each other using Discord, and after the first completion of a showcase video/article, your license will be converted to One Full Year.
Direct support from me
You will have direct response if you have any questions, or run into issues, on Discord
Opportunity to be featured on the Groomer’s Tool website
Of course, only with your permission to post your artwork, and your name/website will be fully credited.
Who this collaboration is for
This collaboration works best for artists who:
use Maya for character hair or grooming
enjoy sharing process or workflow breakdowns
like experimenting with new tools
Independent artists, small creators, and students are all welcome !
Traditional Tutorials vs Workflow Showcases
Because Groomer’s Tool evolves frequently, traditional step-by-step tutorials can become outdated quickly. Buttons can be moved around, features can be adjusted, from patch to patch.
For this collaboration, full tutorials are not required.
Instead, the focus is on workflow showcases. Showing how the tool is used in a real project.
Traditional Tutorial (Not Preferred)
A traditional tutorial typically includes:
explaining every button
going through every parameter
a full step-by-step walkthrough
These tutorials take a lot of time to create and can become outdated very quickly when tools evolve.
Workflow Showcase (Preferred)
A workflow showcase focuses on how the tool was used to create something.
Examples include:
how a hairstyle was created using Groomer's Tool
tips/tricks that you can do with Groomer's Tool
demonstrating "part" of a grooming workflow using Groomer's Tool. I am not looking for detailed workflow on how you sculpt in Zbrush, or how you set up your light rigs, etc.
sharing timelapse workflow clip (making of...etc)
Again, this can be made from an existing hair style that you have already completed before. It does not have to be a brand new asset!
Real examples that features Groomer's Tool from the past:
" The goal is simply to show how Groomer’s Tool helps achieve real results. "
When / Where to post?
I know many of you do not post on platforms, but have great workflow ideas.
That's totally fine! I will make the post and share your video/articles.
For those that do, these can be shared on platforms such as:
ArtStation
YouTube
Instagram
Bilibili
What does NOT qualify
Examples that would not qualify include:
a very short clip showing only one or two button clicks. I am looking for explainations why these buttons works with your workflow
content without any real workflow
reposting material without original work, you need to be the author of the asset that you use Groomer's Tool on.
One or two lines saying 'I did this and that with Groomer's Tool'.
The collaboration is intended to highlight real artistic workflows.
How to apply
If you are interested, please send me via Email or Discord:
a link to your portfolio or channel
where you usually share your work (ArtStation, Bilibili, YouTube, etc.)
a short description of the hairstyle or project you would like to create (or have already created) using Groomer’s Tool
This is just to get a simple idea of what you would like to feature/show in your workflow videos/articles.
You may also be invited for a short conversation on Discord to set up your Creator License.
